Madison County Parks & Recreation Celebrates STEM Week!
  • When: Saturday, March 15
  • Time: 10:00am - 1:00pm
  • Where: Waverly Yowell Gym/Cafeteria

Get ready for an explosion of science, creativity, and innovation at Madison County Parks & Recreation’s Big Bang Bash! This exciting new science fair invites students of all ages to showcase their best projects in various categories, competing for top honors and prizes. Judging will be divided into age groups, ensuring fair and fun competition for all participants.

In addition to the science fair, guests can enjoy hands-on STEM activities, demonstrations, and interactive learning stations throughout the event. Attendees will have the opportunity to build and create using Teva blocks, LEGO, Big Blue Blocks, Magna-Tiles, Marble Run, and more! Challenge your perception with mind-bending optical illusions and explore the wonders of science through engaging experiments and displays.

Whether you’re competing, learning, or just exploring, the Big Bang Bash is a can’t-miss event for curious minds of all ages! Stay tuned for registration details and get ready to ignite your imagination.

​Fly into Spring at Kite Day!

Madison County Parks & Recreation invites you to Kite Day at Hoover Ridge Park on Saturday, April 5, to kick off National Kite Month!

Bring your favorite kite and watch the sky come alive with color and motion! Don’t have a kite? No worries—we’ll have some available to share. Whether you’re a seasoned flyer or a first-time kite enthusiast, this event is perfect for all ages to enjoy the simple joy of flying a kite.

Pack a picnic lunch and make a day of it with family and friends as you soak in the fresh spring air. Let’s fill the sky with soaring kites and celebrate the start of a new season together!

National Sibling Day

Celebrate National Sibling Day at The Oaks!
Madison County Parks & Recreation invites you to a fun-filled National Sibling Day Celebration at The Oaks Performing Arts Center at Hoover Ridge Park on Thursday, April 10, 2025! Gather your brothers, sisters, and the whole family for an afternoon of games, bounce houses, sandboxes, mud kitchens, and crafts—all designed to bring families together for a day of laughter and play.

​Don't have siblings? That's okay too! We'll play with you!

Come play, create, and celebrate family at our National Sibling Day event!
This is a free event, but donations are welcomed! We are looking to purchase more items for these events!

Master Builders

When: Saturday, November 8
Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm

Calling all Builders! Our Master Builders class will challenge your creativity! Have free play or grab a Master Builders Challenge Card!

Participants will circulate through stations that include activities with Legos, Blocks, Marble Run, Teva Blocks, Tangrams, Lincoln Logs, Brain Flakes, and more!

Master Builders may be given challenges including creating a town, building a park, or constructing a bridge.

We will take photos of completed projects and post them on our website!

This is a free event, but donations are welcomed! We are looking to purchase more items for these events!
